ASSIGNMENT: Pick One
Due March 20
Introduce yourself to the world.
Write a 200 word description of your current project that is addressed to those in the broader community who could best be able to assist you in taking the next step toward doing what you want to do for the rest of your life.
That might include:
Producers or Investors (game, motion picture)
Publishers (book, e-book, game)
Employers (2D-3D graphics, animation, effects, storyboarding)
Gallery Owners or Directors (propose an exhibition)
Web Aggregators (links from a curated site)
Educators (a portfolio review committee)
First briefly describe yourself.
Then describe your work. Why are you doing it? What’s it mean? Why’s it important? Make something up. If you are talking to someone who might invite you into his or her enterprise “I don’t know and I don’t really care” can never be the answer to any question even if it’s true.
Research. Say what you know about the business, school, gallery, publishing house etc. that you are addressing.
Elaborate. If you are talking to art galleries or schools an artist statement of background and purpose is particularly important. In any case you are describing your interests and abilities.
Finally say how you might make a contribution. Be as specific and enthusiastic as you can be without sounding phony.
My name is Miranda and I am graduating from Metropolitan Community College this Spring with a degree for Electronic Imaging and Media Arts. I am then transferring to University of Nebraska at Omaha to continue my degree. I want to get into a career involving the gaming industry.
ReplyDeleteI am currently working on a project that revolves around the adventures my friends and I have at our Sunday night Dungeons and Dragons sessions. I believe drawing these comics, characters, and modifying the overall story will help me become a better artist. I would love to get involved in character creation, modeling, story creating, or anything like that in the gaming industry.
I believe I would be a great asset to any team of game creators. I bring a lot of new ideas and talent. I can do many aspects of game creation so I'm not limited to just one set job. I can go where I am needed in the team.
My name is Jacob Blackburn, I am currently a student enrolled in the MCC digital arts degree. I have been writing and making stories for about twelve years now. I have dyslexia, it's a condition that jumbles up letters and words in my head. I have struggled with spelling for my entire life, this made writing a bit of a challenge. I fought for years against my own inabilities to get where I am today.
ReplyDeleteI am writing a 9 chapter book about a world I have created. I have always wanted to actually buckle down and wright one of the many stories I have come up with over the years. I think this is important not only because writing is what I want to do but also as a personal triumph.
I am planing to release this book once it's finished as a free e-book. The reason for this is because the internet and E-books especially have made it so easy to get your name out there if it's free. I plan to release it then advertise through some social media as well as telling friends and asking them to tell their friends. I think if I can get enough people to download it then read and like it, I can be noticed be a publishing company. Or latter when I finish another book when I go to get it published they will already know my name.
Hi my name is Dallas Belair, I am a soon to be graduate from Metropolitan Community College in the Spring of 2013. I am majoring in Electronic Imaging and Media Arts and will soon be transfering to the University of Nebraska Omaha to major in Theater (Acting/Directing). I wish to have a career in creating fantastic animated films.
ReplyDeleteMy newest project will be a animatic short called Crystals. The short is portrayed in the style of the classic Fantasia segments set to the music of Larry Adler's portrayal of Clair De Lune. It is about a harmonica playing Miner who stumbles upon a mysterious cavern filled with enormous crystals and one seeming to contain a young man. Throughout the short the Miner falls for this young man and desperately tries to break him out of the crystal to find a surprise at the end. It will portrayed in fully colored storyboard panels illustrating the story.
It is my dream to follow in the foot steps of the great Howard Ashman who was the Lyrcist/Writer/Executive producer of such great films as: Little Shop of Horrors, Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast. I want to create fantastic memorable films portraying stories and characters that people can relate to and be inspired by. I would love to be a part of the Disney Animation team and I believe I could bring a lot of great ideas to the table and with my knowledge of the company's history and how great films are crafted. Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you I am very passionate about this art form and would be great at Disney. Thank you for your Consideration and time.
