Due March 18

ASSIGNMENT: Three Good Ideas

Consider the analysis and discussion of your work.
Write a paragraph description for each of 3 project possibilities. These will be read aloud in class and discussed. This will be a new piece consistent with and summarizing your existing work. For each possibility provide at least one example of someone else’s published work that may be an inspiration, point of departure or illustration of your objectives.

Do this three times. Even if you feel sure that you have decided on a project. Consider what other projects might be useful.

     Title:
Target Audience: Be as specific as possible.
Illustrated by Published Work: This will be shown and discussed in class.
Description: Write an outline of more than one sentence.

Post your three good ideas as a comment to this blog entry before class on March 18.

  1. Title: From the Earth to the Moon
    Target Audience: General Audiences
A animatic short set to music illustrating Jules Verne getting shot out of a cannon on a journey to the moon and back. It will feature a small cast of characters and feature a rather humorous interpretation of the classic book.

    Title: Crystal
Target Audience: General Audiences, young adults.
A short set to Larry Adler's interpretation of Clair de Lune. The short is about a miner who plays a harmonica who accidentally stumbles upon a cavern of crystals and in one of which contains a living "person". Most of the short is the miner's attempts to get the other guy out. Its a romance and comedy mixed into a 3 minute short animatic.

    Title: Tropical Serenade
    Target Audience: General Audiences
A short animatic about the lives of the legendary Tiki Gods of the Pacific Islands. It would be comedic short with music of the culture and references to Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room.

Title: To Glow In The Darkness

  3. Title: Redd
Audience: Older teens, dark fantasy fans
A story board I did in character, narrative, storyboard development that I wouldn't mind going back and fixing up. It is based on the fairy tale little red riding hood and follows Redd on her quest for vengeance against the monster that killed her mom and grandmother.

    Title: Dungeon Crawlers
Audience: YA, rpg fans, fantasy fans
A storyboard/possible series of comics about an adventuring company and their explorations into the world. Accompanying character sheets and layouts of the different places would be drawn up as well.

    Title: The Fields of Nysa
    Audience: YA
A story I wrote about a girl from the present that somehow is sent back to ancient Greece and must help Hades obtain his wife Persephone. Would possibly be turned into a comic.
